High Water

Over the past few days we have gotten a lot of rain, which
has resulted in some flooding, road closures, and OSU closing.

No worries, we flood in Oregon, and we are barely at flood stage.

Hey Vladi do you want to go play in the puddles? --- No,...

How about you Tanji,... do you want to go out? -- No

Ohhhh, don't even ask me,...

So, Lesley and I headed out.

Just down the road,... to where we knew things would be wet,...

Out there by the second set of cars, the water is flowing
across the road,... we ventured out (attempting to get to FedEx)
but the water was deeper and faster than we felt comfortable
with and didn't want to qualify for a Darwin Award so we retreated,...

Back across the flooding Mary's river,...

Past our neighbor's flooded bottom field,
(we are up above the little ridge) so it would
take a lot for flood waters to get to us,...
but we do have standing water in the "yard" due to
being flat and on a "nice" clay soil.

What did you get me when you were out?,...

Funny you should ask,...

We got you a "Baby-Cat-Cake",....
that is what we call this cake,...

A frozen pizza in the oven and a "play-day",...
what a good way to spend a rainy day.

You were wise to come home to your nice little family and stay dry.

Mmmmm, there's something in that baby cat's face (esp. the first photo) that makes him even more irresistible than that cake. And poor Uschi looks like he was woken up for the photo. That was me today when it snowed five inches here.

Oh Uschi is used to it,... he has had a camera in his face since he was born,... he actually seems to thrive on it,... he sees/hears the camera and perks up,... for that blog,... it took maybe 8 pictures to get the two of Vladi, and it took several of Tanji,... Uschi not him,... he is a pro,... Bam one shot,... that is how it is with him almost every time....

I guess Uschi is the Princess Diana of pussycats -- never a bad shot! And taking photos of him since he was a kitten helps. My Remy, whom I got when he was five, would squint every time he heard the shutter click. Such a pretty boy, but only a few good shots.
