My Pom-Pom!

Uschi cuddles his pom-pom

Uschi is still enamored with his Panic Mouse (PM) toy, but it may actually be the pom-pom part that he likes the most (it does have fur and feathers!). The PM stays safely locked up when we are not around (otherwise Uschi flips it, takes it for a walk, and then dismantles it entirely). We have extra pom-poms that came with the PM and hung one on the Kitty Kat Circus, which has been largely unused for the past few months, and now Uschi curls up with his new pom-pom.

Keeping the "enemy" pom-pom
within reach.

an ocassional loving nudge.

Uschi has a big smile,
must be happy dreams of

Biting,...

and dragging,...

the "Kitty Kat Circus."

Likely he is simply dreaming of attacking the

Panic Mouse!

Uschi hugs his favorite toy.

and gives it a little sniff.

Grrrrrrrr!

Uschi hears Tanj approach

Tanj is still pretty nervous
around the panic mouse...

...but manages to grab
the pom pom.

Uschi decides Tanj is too close...

and drags his toy away.

Kitty Kat Circus

The Kitty Kat Circus underwent some repairs, because Uschi was dragging it around, and ripped off the feather toys. He seems to like the Panic Mouse pom poms, so Lesley attached one onto one of the locations of missing toys. She also put a couple of other toys in place of the missing feathers. I think it was really just a matter of something new to investigate,...

Uschi was the first to attack

He went at it pretty hard before
Tanj took over

Missing Feathers

Hmmmm! What is missing?

Uschi has been having fun dragging the Kitty Kat Circus around the house. After hearing it tip over, yet again, we noticed one of the feather toys was missing. Uschi had carried the removed feather toy portion to the kitchen and was intently pouncing, licking, and generally having a good time with it. The sounds of fun drew Tanj in to investigate. He watched from a safe distance then gingerly touched the feathers. Uschi stared Tanj down, ears folded back, then recaptured his toy for more licking and kicking.

Feeeatherrrrsss, me likes Feeeatherrrrsss

They are fun to step on,...

and lick,...

and chew

Tanj approaches,...

Whatcha got?

Back off Tanj

Myyy feathers

mmmmm, Feeeatherrrrsss

Office Trip

Whaaat? ... it was like this....

We woke up the other morning to Uschi dragging the Kitty Kat Circus across the floor. We took this as a subtle cue that he was ready for some action. We decided to take the boys to the office, since they hadn't been away from the homestead in a week. When we broke out the carrier, Uschi walked right in, Tanj watched from the other side of the room then tried the door to the kennel, I had already locked that exit >;-)

Once in the car the boys were real good, they meowed a little but didn't seem too stressed. As usual Tanj mostly sat on the armrest between the seats and Uschi sat in the back window. When Uschi visited us upfront, Tanj headed to our laps, helpful as always. Once in the office the boys were relaxed and explored for a few minutes, helped me with my computer, then settled down in my "comfy" chair. On the way home we stopped at the grocery store. Lesley told me that they put on a show for customers coming and going.

Kat Circus

Disinterested in the boxed "Kitty Kat Circus"

Tanj and Uschi have been great kittens again this week: real troopers at the vet and putting up with us spending more time at work. Uschi’s personality seems to be changing, he has been seeking out "pets", been visibly more active and inquisitive, and is keeping up with Tanj. It may have something to do with being called a little “hefty” at the cat show >:-). C’mon, he’s a kitten! Uschi especially enjoys batting at the odds and ends dangling from our clothes drying rack, so we decided to get the “Kitty Kat Circus”. We resisted this toy initially, because its pretty much analogous to all of the big plastic toys someone might get for human babies, and those are scary. But hey, they’re our boys,… our kids! They are 19 weeks old today. I had to break out the drill to put it together, so I was happy. Once set up, we waited while the boys played in their outside kennel. Both rushed in the cat door at full gallop, as they do, and they screeched to a halt when they caught sight of the fully assembled "Kitty Kat Circus". After a bit of chattering, it was a full attack on the feather toys. It was a hit! Of course, the boys spent an equal time playing with the box the toy came in, and the whole business quickly degenerated to a wrestling match. By the evening, Uschi was draping on the clothes rack, watching Les in the tub.
