Get A Room

The brothers really do like each other, and spend 24/7 together. Uschi does try to get some T-Free time but Tanj usually tracks him down and after a bit of licking, growling, biting, and finally some more licking they settle down together. The other day I tossed Uschi into the bed, an area that Tanj protects as his territory, I laid with him and tried to calm him, offering my protection. Soon, very soon, Tanj arrived and "snuggled" down next to Usch.

Usch was a little unsure,...

and T soon had a

head-lock in place.

As T began to "nibble",

U started licking,

I think he is going to bite me,...

Yup! Daaad, he's biting,...

Usch licked again,

and T began to melt.

T relaxed enough to clean U's cheek,

both brothers licked,

and cuddled down for a nap.

Clean Team

The boys have very different personalities from each other. Uschi-Swirl is a "cat," like what we think of as a cat. He sleeps long hours, strolls around leisurely/boldly, and is quiet. Tanjiro, well, he is the Bengal that we read about while researching cat breeds back when we were preparing for the adoption of our new family members. T is Full-On, running, jumping, and talking,.. did we say he is talkative and energetic? Both are amazingly stable and oriented on us.

With these two very different personalities, they seem to complement each others needs and certainly our "expectations" very well. Both are super affectionate and social with us, like they can hide anyway because we all live in one room.

When the boys first arrived home with us, Uschi spent a lot of time cleaning himself and licking Tanji. Tanji on the other hand didn't spend much time cleaning himself or Uschi. Uschi is still the main licker but Tanji has become much more of a clean freak also. The "problem" with Tanji's cleaning is that it typically degenerates into biting,... >;-)

Tanji pulled into the Uschi cleaning station,

settled down,

and positioned for a good ear cleaning,

he appeared stunned,

but had an obvious smile on his face.

Later,
Uschi was laying on a piece of cardboard,
and Tanji approached.

Both boys licked,

but soon,

T got "the look" in his eye,...

and started to nibble,...

then chomped down on Uschi's arm,...

U growled and

looked for a T free zone in the kennel.

Uschi Teething

Uschi loves his bristle brush toy. The other night he was going to town on it. There was a bunch of banging around. He was biting it like crazy all the while snorting and puffing. He seemed to be totally out of control expressing his affection for the toy.

He rolled up in the middle of it

climbed through it

And bit at it until there was blood on the toy

I pulled him away from it and checked his mouth.
He had a little bleeding area of his gums where he is
growing his adult teeth. He was totally worked up and

When I let him go, he went right back

and bit down on the toy to get
another fix of the
pleasure/pain of teething.

Bristle Brush

Uschi LOVES the bristle brush toy

We saw these bristle brush "grooming" arches at one of the many online cat goodie sites and thought "hey they boys might like to rub up against one of these,..." We thought it might be good stimulation and good for their fur so we ordered one. It soon arrived in a priority mail box and as always the boys were eager to help us open it. At first they were more interested in the box and especially the biodegradable packing kernels. They each pulled several out and got them stuck to their tongues, the corn based kernels dissolve in water.

Then once we had the arch together

the boys turned away from the kernels

and ATTACKED the arch

I mean ATTACKED!!!

It was amazing!!

They seemed absolutely intoxicated by it.
They clawed at it, chewed it, and kicked it.

They rolled around on it snorting and puffing.

They went at is so hard, we thought it
might be soaked in cat nip or something
(they haven't had that yet)

I smelled it but to my nose I didn't smell any.

Uschi was a crazy boy

He had his claws and teeth clamped down

while he kicked with his hind feet

Until he collapsed

Tanj gave it a sniff

before pouncing

biting

and chewing it

until it was flattened

and as with any good toy
it just precipitated a good old

kitten wresting match

No toy needed.
