Vladi Cat Show - Finale

The morning of Vladi's cat show debut started with
quite a bit of howling in the car, and growling and hissing
as we set up, but once the judging started,
his good nature re-emerged...

Between judging rounds, Vladi sat "relaxed"
with the door to his show kennel open,

watching the other cats and spectators walk past.

Can I go over to visit the other Bengals?

No ?...

Okay then, I'll just

curl up in your lap...

and sleep !!!

This was pretty amazing, as Vladi is not typically a
lap cat at home. He became kind of a spectacle
at the show because the cats typically stay resting in
their cages unless traveling to and from judging rings,
and Vladi was content to snuggle in our laps instead.

The family happily sat and watched the event.

A few judging rings later,...

and another second place,...

Yeah they like me,...

Back to sitting...

and watching the world go by.

I'm lookin' fine!

Which toy are you going to pick ?

Oh that one. What else do you have?

Lunch break, then...

back in the lap for a nap.

Shhhhh, this is special.

Look at meeeee.

Oooo,

I like that toy.
(and we love that long neck!)

I'm CUTE !!

Vladi has had a lot of excitement...

and is starting to get pretty tired...

and a little grumpy.

You better write down a good score for me!

That's enough for me,
I'm happy to stay in mom's lap now.

Vladi was amazing.
He sat in our laps all day, relaxed and content. He didn't seem
phased by people walking past, getting close, or even petting him.

We are so proud of our little V-man!

Vladi's Cat Show - Round One

IT'S SHOW TIME!

This morning we woke up early and
prepared to head to the cat show. We
were already all packed up,

Uschi did a final check for us,...

I'd like to go too,...

Vladi, Lesley, & I got in the car and were off.

Quiet, relaxed, little Vladi went nuts,...

Meow, meow, MEOWWWW !!

I'm not happy about this !!

DAAAADDD!!!

This is not my idea of fun!

Finally parked,...

at the cat show,

we met up with Kelli, unloaded, and

set-up in the event hall.

Kelli showed two cats
(Jungle Jack & Catalina)

Vladi got settled in,

But he was stressed, the vision of a
fun day for him wasn't materializing.

He yelled, hissed, and batted at Kelli !

These are behaviors we had never seen
from this little sweet boy.

We took Vladi on several walks

before the show began,

we were all a bit stressed.

Round #1
(ring #3)

Vladi wasn't sure about all of this,...

he hissed and growled at first,

but was actually a good little boy, and

V-man placed second "Bengal Alter" in the ring.

The tension began to lift...

Its Show Time!

Why is this sitting out here??

This weekend our little Vladi is going to his first cat show! When Tanji and Uschi were kittens, they were in a cat show, and it was a great experience for all of us. The boys were angelic show boys and seemed to be more outgoing afterwards. Vladi is already Mr. Personality and we hope he enjoys himself being around people and other cats. He is almost nine months old and has not been around anyone other than us for the past three months, so this is going to be a big thing for him!

Vladi has been preparing by getting as muddy as possible and diving repeatedly into the compost pile. He has also decided that it is no longer cool to be carried around like a baby cat, so we are practicing yelling "cat out" for the show. Today we started pulling out the goodies for the show...

Vladi strikes a pose as he sniffs the carrier.

What's this for?

Zoom! Make it go!

Better get some sleep before the big day.

Show Boys Round Two

Relaxing before heading into the show

Tanj and Uschi seemed to rebound quite well after the first day of the cat show. Last night, after a long nap, they were playful and energetic, so we were all back for day #2. We spent a bit of time sitting in the car after the hour drive to the show, and the boys definitely seemed to be ready to go. The first three rounds went really well. Both boys were calmer in the judging cages, posed on the grooming table, and let us carry them everywhere. Uschi earned “best in class” for marbled Bengal kittens in his first two rings. Tanj started off with a fifth but then in ring two won "best in class", "best in division", and "best in breed" (Bengal kittens). With all that he was called back and went up against all of that judges top kittens at the show and won "fifth best all-breed kitten". He even got a little plaque to stick on his show ribbon displaying this honor. Yea Tanj! We were all very proud,... in the next round Uschi got third and Tanj got sixth,... The show was going slower than the day before and a lunch break was called after the third ring. The boys took a nap and got admired by the public. So, when we woke them up after the lunch break, they were a bit grumpy for the last two rings. For them it was game over! Overall the show was a great experience: the boys came out of the experience happy and healthy, we all got to visit with Kelli (their breeder), the boys seemed to get even calmer being handled and caged, and we got to see some gorgeous cats. Hmmm, maybe another show when they are older… ???

Tanj watching the competition arrive

Uschi not too worried about who shows up

Hi mom,... are we all checked in?
