Vladi Meets the Rat

Uschi has just spotted his arch nemesis: the remote rat!

When Tanji and Uschi were kittens, they got a present, the remote rat, a remote control toy with glowing eyes, bristly whiskers, and a long tail. At first the boys were pretty scared of this big moving intruder, but as they grew up, they were just a little bit less terrified when it made return visits. We have stored the rat in a special drawer, and figured it was time for Vladi to meet this toy...

First we took the rat out and laid it on the table
as we cleared more space on the floor...

Uschi instantly recognized the rat and
came in for a closer look. Brave Uschi!

The rat isn't moving, so Uschi moves closer...

"You better not mess with me this time!"

The batteries have worn out, so I open up the rat...

Tanji seems to know the rat is helpless and
moves in for a closer look too.

Brave Tanji!
He quickly backs away to watch from a safe distance with Uschi.

Meanwhile, Vladi has been watching his big brothers
as he always does, and knows they are wary of the toy,
but he is a kitten and is eager to investigate...

Staying close to Tanji, Vladi begins to walk
slowly towards the rat.

Uschi is also watching from a safe distance
as Vladi moves in closer and closer.

Pat, pat, pat.
Brave Vladi!

"This isn't so bad!"

Vladi even gets in a sniff...

and a little taste.

We are getting batteries, and we'll see if Vladi
likes the rat as much when it is chasing him
around the house. More to come...

Return Of The Remote Rat

Tanj stalks his prey

Our boys are tough, bold, and typically willing to try new things. However, Tanj still won't go near Uschi's "panic mouse" toy, and Uschi, seemed both excited and terrified during his first encounter with the "remote rat." The glowing eyed, whirling and gliding rat was more than Uschi was up for and Tanj had to defend his big brother against the scary invader. The big rat was a bit too much for the little boys and went into a deep hibernation, no doubt warmed by the terror it inflicted on the baby brothers. Over the months the boys have grown bigger, stronger, and bolder, so when the rat emerged from its hibernation, on a mission to reassert itself, the boys were more prepared!

Wait a minute, why is this thing chasing me?

You have got to be kidding...

I will smack you and send you away!

Uschi hid safely behind his leash.
But all of a sudden found himself,

cornered!

Help, Tanji!

Tanj came to the rescue, grabbing the
rat by the tail and flipping it

It looked wounded so
Uschi took a closer look at the prey

Tanj keeps an eye on the rat
"you better stay away from my Uschi!"

The rat seems confused

Tanj had figured out the rat's secrets.

This round evens the score;

so the rat retreated to safety
but will soon return...

Remote Rat

The boys get a Gift!

Tanjiro and Uschi-Swirl got a great gift in the mail today. At first both boys were VERY interested in the box, well after all, it was addressed to them. Then as the boys watched the box being unpacked they realized there was even more to play with: a big rat! Better yet, the rat was MOVING. Both boys checked the new toy very carefully, staying close together as the rat zipped along the floor.

Let the games begin…

Wow, a new box!

Wait a minute...

Is that for me too?

The boys set out to investigate
their new toy...

We better stick together,
this looks scary...

You go first!

Tanj is intrigued, after all he is "mouse boy"

Even the glowing eyes and and whirling "legs"
don't slow Tanj down.

While Uschi, usually Mr. Confident,
hides in the "catcoon" and becomes ...

Trapped by the rat!

Luckily,

Tanj comes to the rescue!

Giving Uschi time to get his bearings...

so he can retaliate.
