Bosch Dishwasher Repair

What is going on here?

Why are the dishwasher racks out of the machine?

T & V guard their dishes.

A few weeks ago we smelled "electrical" when
running the dishwasher, so I flipped the breaker
and pulled the washer out and inspected things.

I didn't find anything, so we have been running it only when we
are in the house,... there have been no "electrical" smells.

The other day the machine just stopped,... DARN!
We didn't want to go shopping for a new machine,
this Bosch was expensive,... Lesley went online and
found that the main cause for Bosch's to stop like this

is burned out connections where the main electric line
attaches to the machines wiring,...

With Vladi's assistance I opened it up and,...

Yup, the connection had burned off, frying the wire-nuts and all.

That wasn't good!

I rewired the connections, and secured the wire-nutted
connections by wrapping them with electrical tape.

V you better not be marking me,...

After flipping the power back on,
All worked normally,... The racks went back
in and the boys dishes continued washing.

Uschi waited for the cycle to finish so he
would have clean dishes for dinner.

Make This Go,...

It seems like every spring starts with fixing a flat tire
on the tractor cart

Uschi was eager to lend a paw.

Something doesn't seem correct here.

This better 'go' soon,... or,...

I'm outta here.

Roof Repair Assistants

It doesn't seem like our bathroom exhaust fan is living
up to its advertised quality. There is flow, but
it seems like it should be doing more. I noticed that
the roof vent was full of wasp nests so, during yesterday's
family walk, I leaned the long fruit ladder against the
roof, at an exaggerated angle, and went up to clear it out.

In a matter of about one minute,...

Vladi came over the peak to lend a paw,...

"Hey Dad,... this capped vent doesn't look like it is up to code,..."

"Vladi don't rub on that,.... I 'fixed' it"
i.e. it might fall off. >;-)

"Hey what is that?"

Uschi was headed up the ladder.

"Hi guys what is going on?"

Uschi safely transitioned to the roof and
Vladi headed down the ladder.

"This is cool..."

No problem.

"This is fun!"

Vladi tried to head straight up the kennel
screen but couldn't make it over the rain-gutter.
(He went around and came back up)

While, Uschi explored.

Brothers having fun.

"Hey DAAD,... this looks cobbed together also!"
(Remnants from a poorly built home-made solar
HW system that was falling down when we moved in.

At least one thing on the roof looks good.

"DAAAD, more code violations down here,..."

"I don't want anything to do with all that,..."

New Large Cat Door

Day and night the boys smash at high speed in and out of the house/kennel through their cat door. They hit the door so hard and often that last year they snapped the frame that holds the flap. I was able to mend it (several times) with super-glue, but eventually it was beyond repair. All summer long we've had an open door (hole) to the kennel, luckily we don't have many mosquitoes. The boys have loved the hole in the door to silently jump through. However, cooler weather is coming so it was time to find a new cat door.

Tanjiro & Uschi each had a $10 PetSmart gift-card from several years ago, so I searched their website for a door. I found what looked like a good one with a four way locking mechanism, so we can lock the boys in the kennel when they (Uschi) get a little "loud." I also decided to go larger than our previous door.

In case you are wondering why...

Someone is extra-fluffy. Enough said.

I needed to remove the door to cut a larger hole...

This was big fun for the boys,
Vladi tried to jump through the cat "door."

The boys are very helpful as usual...

U & V staring at their door being taken away.

After installing the cat door,
its time to see how it works...

If a new box, toy, or cat food enters the house,
Uschi is the first on the scene. If it is something
that is unusual or potentially scary...

Tanji ("Protector-T") is the first to inspect make sure it is O.K.

Les pushed once on the door flap to show Tanj.
After a few pats,...

... he went right through.

Vladi was already out in the kennel,
so Tanji showed him how to push the door.

My turn!

I think the door is petting me!

The spotted boys started playing with the door.

Finally Uschi arrives to see the new door.

A little sniff and a push,
and Uschi headed back to nap.

Vladi keeps going in and out the door,
the door is really quiet, but he manages to make noise.

Enjoying the view outside from the comfort of home.

My Helpers

Our electrical needed some work,
and the boys were helpful as always:
not too close, but very attentive.

Uschi is making sure his wheel is in good condition.

Vladi and Tanji are keeping an eye on me.

This is the Bengal-boys at their best,
always keeping an eye on us.
