Kennel Restored

The boy's kennel had been reduced in size,
because we were going to build a room off that
side of the house. We changed our plans, so
their kennel was restored.

Once it was buttoned up, the boys came out
to inspect their new/old kennel and the
finishing up around the outside.

Daaaaaad, can I help?

I'm a good helper,...

Vladi is glad to have his big climbing pole back.

Dad,... Daaaad,... Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaad,...
I can climb too.

V zooom up the ramp.

Headed back down.

Tanji inspects the clean-up.

Whoa there, dad is compacting the soil
a bit too energetically.

Hmmmm this is interesting.

Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad,

Kennel Door Modification

We have mentioned on several occasions that Uschi is a bit "vociferous."

When he starts "Oooostering" at 4am, we eventually get up (snap),
if he is not already on his wheel, he quickly heads to it,
and starts running and continues to Ooooster.

When we get to him he is purring and showing off his wheel,
all happy we are finally up and ready to play, it is kind of sad but
we scoop him up and take him to the kennel where he gets launched.

All is well for a few minutes,
Then he starts pounding on the locked door,
(we've tried putting pillows next to the door, etc)
this is almost worse than Ooooostering.

So, now almost 7 years in,
(I might be a light-Blue (mix of White & Blue) from
The Color Code Hartman Personality Profile)
I decided to modify their kennel door.

Daaaad,... what are you making Meeee?

Ummm, he is doing something to our door.

I used 0.75" plywood to make a slotted holder for
piece of 0.75" plywood to slide into.

Vladi is on the scene to "help"

Anyone want to play?

Completed modification.
The first (inner) 2" wide layer of plywood is
just thicker than the door, the next layer is 1" wide, then the
third (outer) layer is 2".  This creates a 0.75" thick slot.

That tightly holds the 0.75" thick plywood.
Solid, nothing to bang on.

So, he thinks that will work,... Ha!

It has,... so far.

Uoo-ster-er

Uschi is amazingly "talkative."
He "talks" and "talks" and HOWLS!!!

As the sun comes up he starts,
we hear him on his wheel amping up.

We call it Uoo-stering (rooster-ing) with day break.

Eventually, we can't take it any longer scoop him up,
which he loves, but typically hides, because
this action means we are tossing him into his
kennel, so he can Uooo-ster outside, which he does.

Ummmm, guys?

I seem to be locked out,... ?

Eventually, everyone else wakes up,
typically from his pounding on the door,
and he rejoins the family.

Then he goes to sleep.

The light is in my eyes.

That is better, on a pile of clean towels,...

I'm trying to sleep here,...

Tomato Inspector

Since we are growing tomatoes in pots, in the kennel,

We have been leaving the "human" door open,

The boys love it.

Uschi enjoys the open door.

What nice swirls.

Spotted Friends

Tanjiro received a visit from our deer family.

T watched intently,

To the family as they strolled past.

Alert spotted fawns.

Have floppy ears, too.

Mooooommmmm.

Well come on then,...

Here I come.

Time to head down the trail, but first

One last look.

Tomato Gardening

Intermittently for 22 years we have planted tomatoes.
We have harvested only a handful of tomatoes in all those attempts.

Our first year at the Strawbale house we had 40+ tomato plants,
all of which were taken over by the field, and consumed by
deer etc. As another attempt to regain our lives we are
trying again. This time we are using

4 gallon pots inside the boys kennel.

Each plant goes into potting soil.

As well as a catnip plant.

Mmmmm, this is what I'mmmm talkin' 'bout.

T-grrr also approves of the new garden.

We Are Back,...

We have not blogged in 19 days,
after posting 1948 blogs since T&U launched
their blog on Wednesday, May 24, 2006,
but we think we are emerging from "the weeds."

The boys kennel has gotten a much needed cleaning,...
