Chance Encounter

Vladi has tracked down Uschi, who was stealthily cruising to
his favorite sitting spot by the septic field.

Hiiiii, did you miss me?
After years of observation, we have concluded that Vladi is an optomist.

Face sniffing is inadequate, this could be a strange cat in disguise.

 Better check to be sure.

V has his happy stinky face on, and Uschi struts away with
a superior tail flick.

Truffle Hunting

The boys typically find patches of ground that
have intoxicating smells. We say they are
truffle hunting.

They roll around on the spots.

This is great.

Oh boy.

Odor Detector

Tanji is our odor detector.
Inside, if something is "dirty" (like everything)
he lets us know very quickly, by acting agitated
then he tries to bury it. He typically, does this
to places U or V sleep, they get up and T goes over
and tries to bury their spot. When his "T-towel" is dirty
he buries it. The rest of us are just not clean,...
enough for Mr. T.

Tanji was out jogging,...

When he caught scent of something "good."

He came to an abrupt halt and sniffed.

Someone was touching my vetch!!

I smell them !!

What A Rush

All of the brush-hogging has revealed a bunch of new places for the boys to play. The other night they came across and became fascinated with a rush, Juncus effusus var. We knew it was a rush because "sedges have edges, rushes are round." Apparently this rush had also been found by another animal because the boyz spent a good ten minutes sniffing it then displaying a flehmen response, mouth open dazed look.

Ooo That Smell

While walking the other night the boys came across a little cedar tree, one of many we planted to someday become a nice privacy screen on the South side of the property. This little tree however had some aroma on it that captivated their attention. They spent a good five minutes alternately smelling the little cedar then displaying a nice flehmen response (mouth open dazed look). So the scent was probably left by another cat intruding on their property.

Tanji was the first to find the scent

and display a nice flehmen response

Uschi soon joined Tanji
