The boys have their toy box, I have a few of my own. These are
my awesome watercolors, and its time they came out to play.

Well, not quite yet, my painting skills have dried up
over the past 2 1/2 years, so...
Out come the inexpensive student watercolors. Its baby steps for now,
test swatches in the journal, but the cat paintings will come soon :).
(Thank-you for the encouragement, I needed it!)

wow, les, your watercolor toys (especially in pic #1) really look awesome !! what maker are they from?
and yes, go for it and paint your "baby" cats! ;)
Hi Silvia!
My prized watercolors are a variety, mostly Daniel Smith (my favorites), Winsor & Newton, Schmincke, Holbein, and Kremer. The student watercolors are Winsor & Newton Cotman and Grumbacher opaques. I'm not a big fan of the W&N student paint colors, so I'm going to try to use all of those up practicing first. I'll blog the muddy results soon :)!
hi les - thanks for all these watercolor details! the wooden boxes in pic 1 are just so fascinating - which maker do these come from? and: if i understand you correctly the colors inside these same boxes actually are a variety, right?
i look forward with much pleasure and interest to discover your "student" practices! :))
Hi! The wooden boxes are actually old microscope slide boxes that were getting tossed, and they each have a mix of brands inside. L
oh, i see - cool & colorful science-art recycling! thanks for letting me know. :)
