Sendai Earthquake & Tsunami

Sending our best wishes to everyone impacted by today's
8.9 Earthquake and resulting tsunami ~81mi off the
coast of Sendai Japan.

We received word form friends outside of Sendai
that they are shaken but alright.

The USA tv news (CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC) seemed wildly
speculative and sensationalistic, so we headed online for
information and also to the BBC America, NPR, and some

Is Family Coming?

Vladi loves company.

Les' Mom (the boys' grandkitty) may be joining us soon,
and the boys are ready for extra attention...

I need attention. NOW!

Me too! (although I may be under the ottoman)

At lunch we drove downtown to see what houses are for sale.
Maybe the boys could visit often and run around.

This is an oldie but goodie...

a block away from the art center and central park..

and close to the library and apartment
we lived in during our "pre-Bengal" days.

Down the street a little fixer-upper for sale...

only a block from the Borders bookstore, where we
researched different cats before deciding on Bengals
What were we thinking?? :)

Closer to us, a newer home, with lots of rooms for kitties to explore.

Looking forward to having more family in Oregon!

Uschitude

Someone needs a nap.

With lots of visitors to worship him over the past few weeks,
Uschi has enjoyed being the center of attention...

Uschi-watching is better than TV...

This is the life!

Even though Uschi craves attention, sometimes he likes to be alone. When he is outside with us, he often likes to sit quietly, staring off into the distance. If we disrupt his solitude, there can be an impressive amount of hissing and growling, a definite "leave me alone" signal. It is all show and no go; Uschi does not have a mean bone in his body. Usually he saves his hissy-fits for Tanji, but sometimes, if we're lucky, Uschi will yell at us too.

The family went out for a walk and Uschi
started growling at Tanji, so Les picked him up...

"You better not mess with me!"

"I'm super tough Uschi!"

Uschi took a break to catch his breath.

But gave Les a last little meow...

The hissy-fit was over for now...

and the whole family has enjoyed the show.

Walking the Family

The boys don't usually get a lot of visitors, so it takes them a while to settle down when people stop by. After Les' parents visited for a few days, the boys were calmer and ready to take the whole family for a walk to visit the wildflowers...

The wildflower seeds planted over the new irrigation
pipes three months ago have begun to bloom.

Tanji finds a clump of wildflowers...

and walks around them
("I'm a good boy!")

Uschi also slinks along the edge of the flowers...

and leads the family down the grass path.

Uh-oh, the family is getting away!

Uschi is in full pursuit....
You're supposed to stick with me!

That's better, we go this way!

Its time to play follow-the-leader...

Tanj is so happy, he takes some petting.

Everyone walks off into the woods together.
