Every month or so,
I swap out the boys kennel "litter."
We have a dump-truck load of "concrete sand,"
which is just coarse sand that drains well
and doesn't stick to the boys feet/fur,
that I use to refresh the kennel.

I bet I know a white spotted kitten who will be very dirty in a few weeks...
I am thinking he will make a mess of all that dirt!
Don't you have problems with T&U tracking that course dirt in the house?
Am I right in thinking you don't use litter? I would love not to use litter and clean an area out once a month!
Yes, Vladi doesn't know what he is in for,... muddy runs in the winter/spring, one room, etc.
The coarse sand is coarse enough that it doesn't stick to their feet and fur, and their outside "litter box" is on the other side of the house from the cat door, so they have a ways to travel anyway.
The boys have a litter box inside which they totally ignore.
But the mud from the wet ground does make it inside.

No worries, that doesn't bother us.
Life changes when you have cats, doesn't it! When I first got Sebastian, I used to wash my hands after touching him each time! Ha ha... that was a long time ago - when I had never had a pet before! Now, they could probably lick my straw and I'd ignore it!
You are very lucky about the litter! I wish I had your set up! Maybe one day I'll have a garden.... oh to dream!
