Gutter Inspection

How Cats Drink

Uschi likes to demonstrate,...

He loves his water bowl.

MIT researchers wondered how cats drink,...
They used high speed cameras and discovered
that the tips of their tongues create a column of fluid
which they then catch in their mouths. Also interesting
is that the rate of lapping is cat size dependent,
meaning that big cats (tigers, lions, etc) lap slower.

They also built this cat tongue machine so they
could precisely control and measure parameters.
