"What's this? It's making noise."
It has been unusually hot for the past few days (108 degrees F yesterday!) and we have been making sure our furry boys have kept cool. We don't have air conditioning, but our straw-bale house has two foot-thick walls and stays at least 20 degrees cooler inside. That still is pretty warm when the temperature soars, and occasionally the boys do travel out into the kennel to take care of business. When Vladi looked a little overheated, we pointed the fan in his direction, put an ice bag under him, and I rubbed his neck with an ice cube. He loves the attention. We also floated ice in one of the many water bowls...
The ice is crackling and popping so
Vladi can't resist taking a look.
"Mmmm, that's tasty!"
Licking up the condensation.
Vladi mushes his new friend.
"Ooohhhh, this feels good too."
All of this excitement is wearing Vladi out.
Uschi checks out the icewater too.
Vladi's day is getting better and better.
Tonight the temperature plummeted down to the 60s,
so the boys were able to go outside for a walk again,
Les could wear one of her favorite sweaters, and
I could hunt thistles flowering in the heat.
