Window Cat Tree II

The boys are in/on the window cat tree everyday. Tanj runs around, jumps and climbs up, chirping and chattering all the while. Uschi chases Tanji up and down the tree, but also spends quality time sleeping and rolling around purring on the top level.

Even when bathing, Tanj looks ready for action.

Uschi dangles from the top level,

before playing with the sisal rope.

Tanj hears the action and joins Uschi,

for a quick bath,

a pose,

and a nap.

Pretty boy Tanj then poses,

for the camera,

Before,

spotting Uschi, and looking for,

more action.

Tropical Tanj

Tropical Tanj explores the pond.

Both boys track the spray of the Hosi greenii venom.

After a water snake sprayed the plants around the little pond one evening, Tropical Tanj intently, but ever cautiously, explored the wet rocks and plants.

He looks right in his element,

slightly blurrred.

Uschi Play

Uschi has been; playing with toys, super affectionate, talkative, etc. The other night he was playing with the exercise clothes drying rack having a good old time.

He was just rolling around under the rack,

looking up at my heart rate monitor,

and enjoying the wood legs.

Later,

Glamour-Boy found Lesley's computer bag,

and dragged that around.

Catcoon-Pickle Fun

The other day the boys were playing with the "Catcoon", something they hadn't really played with. Well of course they have always jumped on it and ran into and out of it, but they were really having fun with it's structure. One would be inside it and the other outside and there were paws punching through the holes, it was fun to watch. So much so I didn't even grab the camera (?!).

This wasn't enough fun however. They soon added the Kick-Pickle into the play. Tanj was inside the "Catcoon" and had pulled an end of the pickle into one of the holes. Uschi was on the outside attacking the pickle, trying to get it free.

The pickle is stuck dad,...

it won't come out.

Tanj came out to see what
was going on with the pickle.

and attacked it.

Without Tanj attached to the other end,
it came right out.

Hey Tanj, it mine,...

My pickle!!

Mr. Spots attacks,...

and attacks,...

and attacks.

He loves to chew on the pickle,
while digging in his claws.

Fluffy Yellow Feathers

Uschi stares down his arch-nemesis

Before we got Tanj and Uschi, we went a little crazy buying toys and beds they might enjoy. One day Lesley spent hours at a local cat specialty shop looking for the ideal toy to attract the boys' attention. The resident cat in the pet store was particularly attracted to a wand with bright yellow feathers and mylar streamers. The toy seemed ideal! Our boys seemed to like feather toys and mylar streamers. Perfect! Needless to say, they hated it, maybe even were terrified by it. For months, the toy has been largely ignored, even when waved frantically in the air. Until now...

Tanj and Uschi have definitely been more spunky since they began their treatment of Metronidazole almost two and a half weeks ago. They were supposed to be on the medication for four weeks (half dose for the last two weeks), but by two weeks into the medication, both boys began to vomit and showed less interest in food, common side effects of using this drug. We stopped their medication, hoping that after two weeks, the antibiotic properties had done their job in assisting their immune systems, and that the anti-inflammatory nature of the drug had calmed their digestive systems down. Now four days later, they have gotten their appetites back, are still very active, and there are no signs yet of "bad belly!" What does all of this have to do with their "Nemesis Toy?"

Well, along with their increased activity, the boys finally tackled the scary yellow feathers and ribbons...

Uschi catches sight of the toy...

but is still a little uncertain of the combination
of feathers and ribbons.

A gentle touch turns out O.K.,
so Uschi decides to

give it a a little "love bite" and then...

attacks his prey!

Tanj also investigates the toy...

At first he keeps a safe distance,

making sure the toy doesn't make
any sudden moves.

Somehow, Tanj's paw is on the toy...

he starts to lick gently, but

you can tell by the look in his eyes
that he's going to be....

BAAADDDDD!!!

Mine! All Mine!

Who's coming to get my toy?
Stay away Uschi, because...

This is the best toy ever!

Uschi & Art Show To Go

Uschi has taken to perching on one of Lesley's art pieces, "Art Show To Go" (she painted all those little paintings, made the sculptures, and made the frames). For some reason he likes to lay up there, maybe because Tanj can't get next to him? Most likely however, it gets him even more Lesley attention.

Uschi watches Tanj,...

Happy Uschi,...

goes to sleep.
