Favorite Things

"Raindrops on roses, whiskers on kittens,

Here are a few of my favorite "things"...

I'm trying to get photos for today's Merry Bright blog,

notice how the camera seems to naturally focus on Uschi.

Usch likes to nibble on pretty and shiny things.

U is getting alarmingly excited, so I move

to the other side of the house for additional photos.

And Tanji pops up to "help."

So the star gets put safely away for now.

Oh, My Stars!

There was a brief window of sunlight after a lot of fall rain,

and a beautiful group of stars to photograph with the macro lens...

 

Orange and black, our school colors!

Tropical fruit colors to brighten up our shorter days.

 

Of course Uschi is near by, wondering when its his turn

to strike a pose for the camera.  Not yet Usch...

 A twinkling Faërie star in the prettiest of purples...

 ...and a matching butterfly for full flight effect.

O.K. Uschi,  let's see what you've got!

Bam! U nails it every time.

Is it just me or does the macro lens make Usch look "extra-plush?"

Sleep, Sun, and Stars

Finally after almost a week of throwing up, getting better, and then getting sick again, Uschi rallied today.  By 2 a.m. he was drinking water and nibbling on a variety of foods, so we all got a long, quiet, breezy sleep until almost 3 p.m. (!).  After some leisurely snacking and stretching, we headed out to enjoy the sunshine.  The boys were still a little sleepy, so I took the opportunity to take photos of some of my gorgeous stars...

This adorable mouse (thank-you Danielle!) reminds me of somebody...

 Yep, its Vladi!  He's resting here after his sand bath.

I love how the stars are as pretty in the back as the front.

 Here's the front of a big neon orange star...

 ...and the gorgeous Celtic knot on the back.

 The necklaces are amazing too, this one just glows.

The sunlight is dancing all over this star.

 

While I've been admiring the sparkly glitter stars...

 ...the boys haven't gone very far.

Yesterday may have been the first day of Autumn,

but today still feels like summer.
 

It takes a good half hour before T and V start sprinting

up and down the trails, plenty of star-watching time.

Uschi went home early to a special appetizer treat and nap,

and I spent an extra hour cat-walking the spots in the sun.

Pure bliss!

Make a Wish

A package has arrived, Vladi can tell this is something special.

Last December when things were kind of gloomy,

I lucked out and found Danielle's shop Little Love Letter Arts.

The stars and necklaces are mesmerizing and brighten any day.

 

Star light, star bright,

The first star I see tonight;

 

I wish I may, I wish I might,

 Have the wish I wish tonight.

Or as my Mom read to me when I was little...

 The world is so full of such wonderful things,

 

I'm sure we will all be as happy as kings.

Thats what the stars remind me.  Thank-you Danielle! (and Mom :)

Uschi's Stars

Its a pretty box for Uschi!

These beauties need some sunlight, so the family heads outside.

Walking down the garden trail...

  

To the picnic table, a favorite spot.

 All of this sparkle is bound to attract attention...

Two bright super-stars meet.

Meanwhile Uschi is shopping for his favorite.

"Uschi, you better not be digging in that box!"

 "I was just looking!"

Uschi stays close to the stars until...

 Something more fun heads his way.

Star Flowers

What gets the boys' attention even more than real flowers...

are Les' sparkly star flowers from LittleLoveLetterArts.

 

It is impossible to dangle something this shiny in front

of a Bengal cat without consequences.

 Luckily the boys can't quite jump to neck height (yet).

Tanji is mesmerized and trying VERY hard to be a good boy

(there was a bit of gentle patting and nibbling).

its practically summer here.
